Importance The article focuses on the specifics of the CIS labor markets through a comparative analysis of demand and supply.
Objectives The research constitutes a comparative analysis of demand and supply in the CIS labor market and identifies specifics of the national labor markets.
Methods The research examines and analyzes the tension index of the labor market. I apply logic fundamentals of systems analysis, methods of theoretical, statistical and economic research, comparison and grouping.
Results I figure out professions that are in excess and short supply in the labor markets. To study the geographical aspect of the labor market, I reviewed tension indices per region of the countries under study and introduced a new indicator, i.e. a reverse tension coefficient. The article overviews the specifics of the CIS labor markets, indicating that Belarus has the most favorable labor market conditions as it demonstrates no geographical disparity, and its labor market demand exceeds supply.
Conclusions and Relevance I conclude that most CIS countries experience geographical, professional and qualification disparities, with market specifics allowing to devise a mechanism for regulating the balance of demand and supply in the labor markets of the countries. I substantiate that the State should become the main regulator of such a balance.
