Regional dimensions of catering development (a Southern Federal District case)

Importance The article dwells upon the catering as a modern tool for development of the restaurant business in regions of the Russian Federation, investigating promotional catering arrangements and showing prospects of its introduction in the region's catering system.
     Objectives The aim of the paper is to develop options for effective implementation of catering in the financial and economic activity of restaurant business.
     Methods The official data of the Federal State Statistics Service on retail trade and paid services to the population in the Russian Federation served as a methodological framework for the research.
     Results We defined a perspective direction of development of the restaurant industry for the Southern Federal District in the market of public catering enterprises, organizing catering. We classified catering services and analyzed the turnover of catering in Russia. We justify the necessity to diversify service delivery of restaurant business entities.
     Conclusions and Relevance We concluded that the current development of different spheres of economy involves extensive use of innovative economic instruments, among which the catering will occupy one of the leading positions in the sphere of restaurant business. The results will contribute to the wider perception of catering as an effective tool to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, government structures and institutions, labor groups and the population in the system of outside catering.
