Subject The article deals with the problems of increasing the economic efficiency of dairy cattle breeding due to the negative trend in cows and milk production reduction under the Russian Federation's membership in the World Trade Organization. Objectives The paper aims touncover the main problems of low efficiency of dairy cattle breeding and show the prospects for sustainable development of the industry, as well as the increase in milk production, and to study the characteristics of the State support of milk producers' credit. Methods As the research tools, I used monographic and abstract-logical methods of analysis. Results As a result, I present the key indicators affecting the economic efficiency of dairy cattle breeding, calculate the total investment for a new milk complex construction, and determine a trend towards a decline in modernization of the existing dairy enterprises and building new ones. Conclusions I conclude on the necessity to increase the period of Government subsidies for milk producers' investment credits up to 15 years to help stabilize the situation in dairy cattle breeding and improve the competitiveness of products.
