The main tendencies and results of innovation development of the Kaluga region's economy in context of a cluster approach

The article presents the results of research of the main tendencies of investment activity in the Kaluga region's economy. The paper notes that the region is one of the leaders attracting direct foreign investments. This circumstance results in rapid emergence of a number of large up-to-date production clusters, what contributes to better growth of the regional economy. However, the privacy of foreign production clusters does not diffuse new technologies, nor transform them into large-scale innovations either. The region does not benefit much potentially despite of the placement of foreign production. This circumstance constrains the development of the regional innovation system. The author makes certain recommendations on enhancement of industrial clusters efficiency as a factor of development of all the regional innovation system.
