In connection with the intensive growth of consumption of various goods, the problem of utilization and processing of solid domestic waste, which render an extremely negative impact on the environment, has become more important in recent times. In this paper, the authors conducted a research of the Russian consumers' attitude to the problem of waste utilization and recycling. As the result of the research, they arrived at the conclusion on consumers' quite passive and almost emotionless position in the desire for benefiting the environment, for making it safe, tidy and pollution-free. The authors stress the need of vital importance to improve consumers' environmental education and culture.
