FIFA World Cup 2018 and prospects of tourism development on example of the Volgograd region

In the article positive and negative international experience of carrying out the European championships, the world (WC) on soccer and Olympic Games is presented. Recommendations on optimization of economic effects in medium-term prospect for tourism development in the Volgograd region, concerning observance of the principle of payback of infrastructure expenses to orientation to the European fans and the accounting of regional features when carrying out sports competitions are offered.
