In the article process of transformation of timber processing complex of the Republic of Karelia since the beginning of market reforms till now are considered. The complex analysis of timber industry sector of the republic which is submitted by several kinds of activity is carried out. Dynamics of the indicators characterizing development of a complex is given. The problems are presented, ways their solutions are proposed and development prospects are offered.
