Differentiation of social and economic development of regions leads to uneven distribution of investments. Many regions lose investment appeal. In the article dynamics and level of investments into fixed capital in the North Western federal district and their influence on average per capita indicators of VRP, the population income is considered. The role of investments into economy modernizations is shown.
