In the article the questions of development of transport infrastructure of forest regions are considered. It is indicated that the need of introduction of energy saving means of transport of a dual purpose. The possibilities of rail transport systems of a narrow track as transport of the forest industry are described. Data on possibility of use of the narrow-gage railroads for elimination of consequences of natural disasters are provided. Inclusion of the program of construction of the narrow-gage railroads in forest strategy is offered
