In the article the need of improvement of methodology and tools of an assessment of the forest capacity of the region taking into account variety of carried-out woods social, economic and ecological functions is given. Forest potential is presented in the form of the social-ecological-economic system, with the description of functions of its separate elements. The tools of ecological-economic assessment of forest potential taking into account useful functions carried out by the woods are offered. The results of its approbation on the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan are presented.
