In the article the main tendencies characterizing a current state of light industry both in Russia as a whole, and taking into account regional specifics on the example of the Rostov region are presented. The package of measures of modernization character of structural and investment policy of the state on support of the light industry enterprises taking into account internal and external threats and opportunities is offered.
