In the article it is noted that in the sphere of retail trade the tendency of strengthening of processes of concentration of business is considered. These processes directly influence state of competition and the efficiency of the mechanism of the market economy.The antitrust law is a component of the mechanism of protection of the competition from potential threats. In its framework the order of an assessment of a condition of the competitive environment in the commodity markets is developed. However the offered technique doesn't consider branch specifics. The problems of application of a technique for an assessment of a condition of the competitive environment in the sphere of retail trade are considered.
