The scientific discussion concerning concept and essence of category is given in the article "the monoindustrial city / monosity". The classification of the monoindustrial cities by separate signs is given, author's definition monosity with use of quantitative and qualitative criteria is given. Preconditions and social and economic consequences of formation and development of the monoindustrial cities are allocated.
