The article presents an analysis of problems and prospects of development of small businesses in the Prokopyevsk city of Kemerovo region, which is one of the first in Russia has received financial assistance under the state program of modernization of the economy-industry towns. It is shown the possible options for setting priorities in determining the focus of municipal support small businesses.
