The article shows the analysis of exports and imports of apparel products for the period from 2007 to 2010 in the framework of the Strategy for the Development of light industry. The data statistics on exports, imports, production and tax burden in the garment industry. A comparison of growth rates of exports and imports by main indicators of the garment and textile products in 2009-2010. Identified a number of reasons, which "hinder" development exportb garment and textile production in the Russian Federation. Identified one of the modes of action to implement the increase in exports in the garment and textile industry: a mechanism for export financing.
