The paper presents the prospects for business development of small and medium-sized regional banks in the medium term ? analysis of the distribution of commercial banks in the Russian regions suggests their significant concentrations in the Central Federal District. The paper analyzes the main trends in the banking system of Sakha (Yakutia) in the period 1998-2010.
