Some problems and outlook for development of various types of regions of Russia have been examined in the paper. The dependence of economic growth of regions of the Russian Federation on their foreign-economic activity has been analyzed. The conclusion concerning necessity of modernization of national economy and refusal of raw development model has been drawn on the ground of the analysis of problems relative to social and economic development and generated by economic crisis.
