Problems of forthcoming modernization of Russian economy in a context of regional reproduction structure are considered in the article. The basic attention was given to republics of NCFD (Northern-Caucasian Federal District) having problems of depressive character of reproduction, and property structures, small enterprises development specificity, research activities and introduction of innovations, structure of a gross regional product were analyzed. Special attention was focused on necessity of a diversification of processing production in the course of regional economy modernization.
