The article focuses on the typological approach towards the assessment of rural territories’ development level due to economic, social, ecological, institutional specific features and peculiarities of territorial formations. The author gives the diagnostic model of regional districts’ typology based on the point-rating system that enables to range rural territories according to their development level. Types of regions are presented in accordance with their development level and measures necessary for these regions’ socio-economic potential recovery and the whole territory’ saving are proved.
