Economic differentiation and prospects for the development settlements of urban type of Russia

In a paper the economic typology of settlements of urban type of Russia - a special class of small urban settlements of our country is presented. The typology is built according to the last All-Russia population census of 2002. 11 types of settlements depending on are chosen in what branch of economy the majority of the working population is occupied. For each type of settlements features of a modern social and economic situation and prospect for the development are shown.
