Cluster mechanism of raising competitiveness of the region

State industrial innovation and investment policy lays the foundation for clustering of economic development of the regions. The article sifts the analysis of various forms and types of clusters, it considers a basic scheme of influence of clustering of economic activity on competitiveness of the region and gives consideration to potential and preconditions of clustering in the Russian Federation. The formation and functioning of clusters are tangible grounds for self-development of the regions, active mechanism of raising their competitiveness which must be a vital criterion in achieving a general strategy of regional development.
