Rating of regions of Southern federal district on level of innovative potential

In the article the author analyses statistical indices of the innovative activity of the regions of the South Federal District - innovation development costs, intensity and effectiveness of innovation processes - which characterize the regions innovation potential. The following components of innovation potential have been determined and analyzed: resource component, including finance, information, human and result constituents, internal component and result component. On the basis of the integral criterion of estimated figures the regions of the South Federal District have been grouped according to their level of innovation potential; within the groups the regions have been classified into leaders and outsiders.
