The article deals with the social and economic description of the Ural Federal District that plays a very important part in the Russian economy. This is due to the rich fuel resources and the production capacity. But the district suffers some serious problems that delay its improvement. The analysis of the current situation allows to tackle the problems as well as to see the main prospects of the social and economic development of the Ural Federal District.
