The article studies industrial growth in Russian in 1800s to early 1900s. According to statistics, the Russian Empire in this period rightly occupied an important place in the global economy. Monarchy attempted to remain in charge in the new conditions. At the same time, the social stratification and peasant cummune persisted. All these factors together led to drastic social cataclysms in the next period of the Russian history.
