The article defines the coefficiens of ecological and economical evaluation of the aternative power sources efficiency, to help find the priority directions of the alternative power industry development in the Kostroma region. The most urgent for Kostroma is to decrease the coal and residual oil consumption, in view of their high price, transportation difficulties and the need to limit the greenhouse gas emission due to the fuel and energy complex activities. Using the local fuels is paid special attention in the Kostroma region energy strategy.
