The article considers theoretic approaches to the analysis of clusters in a subject of the Russian Federation. Comparing the existing approaches of defining the term “cluster”, the author delivers his own definition of this term; he also provides criteria for clusters’ classification by types and performs analysis of the existing and potential clusters in the Saratov Region.
