Subject. This article focuses on the financial security of an individual as the primary category of all components of national security, and methods of its assessment. Objectives. The study aims to reveal the content and assess the financial security of an individual in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. Methods. For the study, I used methods of systems and comparative analyses, grouping, and methods of integrated assessment. Results. The article investigates the main approaches to assessing the individual's financial security, and proposes the author's definition and methodology for its assessing. Conclusions. There is a significant differentiation of the Far East regions in terms of personal financial security. The main threats are associated with large income losses upon retirement, low purchasing power of monetary incomes of the population and increasing inequality of the population in terms of monetary income. The proposed methodology can be applied by regional government bodies to monitor the financial security of the population in the regions.
