Subject. This article discusses indicators of innovative development in the federal districts of the Russian Federation. Objectives. The study aims to assess the impact of the innovation component on the socio-economic development of the federal districts of Russia. Methods. For the study, we used correlation-regression analysis, scenario forecasting, analytical, comparative, and descriptive methods. Results. The article identifies the Russian Federation federal districts with the highest per capita GRP growth, and determines factors affecting their social, economic, and technological conditions. It also establishes a positive impact of innovative development on the socio-economic status of the districts. Conclusions. The innovation component plays a key role in the socio-economic development of the federal districts of the Russian Federation. Overall, Russia shows a positive trend in socio-economic development at the level of federal districts, however, the innovation sector develops unevenly. To reduce the existing gap, targeted programs that take into account the specifics of each federal district of the Russian Federation are necessary.
