Subject. This article discusses the electric power cooperation between Russia and Egypt.
Objectives. The study aims to assess the current state of Egypt's energy sector, analyze the historical stages of electric power development, study the practices of implementing Russian–Egyptian projects, and develop recommendations for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of electric power.
Methods. For the study, we used the methods of historical, comparative, and statistical analyses of Egypt's energy balance data, regulatory framework, and joint project practices.
Results. The article reveals the key stages of the development of Egypt's electric power industry, and determines the current state of the energy balance. It also carries out a detailed analysis of the flagship direction of Russian-Egyptian cooperation implemented with Russian financing.
Conclusions. The results of the study demonstrate the strategic importance of the energy partnership between Russia and Egypt for expanding Russia's geopolitical and geoeconomic influence in Africa.
