Subject. This article discusses approaches to assessing fire damage in the context of evaluating the territories economic security.
Objectives. The study aims to formalize a comprehensive methodology for assessing fire damage for various types of territories in the Russian Federation using tools of socioeconomic zoning.
Methods. For the study, we used a systems approach, methods of economic ranking of territories, analysis of statistical data, comparative analysis of existing damage assessment methodologies, and socioeconomic zoning.
Results. The article reveals that there is no universal methodology for all types of territories. The use of the authors' toolkit makes it possible to increase the accuracy and reliability of the assessment, which is confirmed by the results of the practical application of the methodology.
