Subject. This article discusses the organizational and economic relations and development of monocities in Kemerovo Oblast (Kuzbass). Objectives. The article aims to identify the socio-economic development characteristics of Kuzbass monocities. Methods. For the study, we used coefficient method, comparison, factor and regression analyses. Results. The article analyzes the composition of city-forming organizations and the dynamics of mono-profile criteria in the monocities of the Kemerovo Oblast. Conclusions. We identified the factors determining the number of employed population in monocities, and the need for different approaches in developing plans and programs within the region.
