Ecosystem approach to the development of small towns

Subject. This article focuses on the necessity of the ecosystem approach integration to develop small towns economy.
Objectives. The article aims to develop a theoretical and methodological foundation (framework) of the ecosystem approach to small towns development to increase their financial sustainability.
Methods. For the study, I used interdisciplinary approaches, including systems and comparative analyses, and methods of systematization and generalization.
Results. The article reveals the necessity of integrating environmental, social, and economic factors in the process of territorial development. It also highlights practical recommendations for implementing an ecosystem approach to the small towns development.
Conclusions. Interested stakeholders can use the research results to implement regional development strategies. Theoretical and methodological potential of the ecosystem approach to the small towns development opens up new directions (areas) for scientific research.
