Subject. This article discusses the issues of protecting the rights of Russian investors operating in global stock markets. Objectives. The article aims to assess the damage inflicted on Russian investors by the unlawful actions of unfriendly states. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of systems and comparative analyses. Results. The article finds that due to the introduction of restrictive measures by some states that hinder the establishment of relationships related to the fulfillment of obligations and the execution of other legal actions with the shares of foreign issuers, Russian investors have suffered substantial financial losses. Under the current circumstances, Russian investors cannot manage their assets and receive the dividends due on foreign securities, and they are also deprived of the ability to promptly execute trades in shares as part of bilateral transactions on the stock market. Conclusions. The response measures of the Russian Federation should be related to the forced confiscation of Russian securities from foreign owners for the further realization of the confiscated assets on the Russian stock market in order to compensate for the damage incurred at the time Russian investors lost their ownership rights to the shares of foreign issuers.
