Subject. This article discusses prospects for the development of the oil and gas industry in the face of technological and environmental challenges.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the advantages of educational systems of various countries in terms of the development of human resources in the oil and gas industry.
Methods. For the study, I used mathematical research methods.
Results. The article determines human resources potential of the oil and gas industry through assessing the level of mathematical and natural science literacy of schoolchildren. It also identifies countries that have the greatest potential in terms of developing competencies relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Conclusions. The results of the study can be taken into account by Russian specialists in the development of vocational education programmes.
