Subject. The article addresses the modernization of territorial and regional socio-economic system. Objectives. The purpose is to analyze various concepts of contemporary regional economic policy, develop tools enabling the balancing of economic-production and social-consumer processes at the regional level. Methods. The study employs systems analysis methods. Results. The paper established that the sustainable nature of the transformation of modern regional economic structures implies the implementation of resource-saving mode of resource potential utilization. There is a need for a parity between the modernization of territorial-production structures, preservation of regional natural systems, and provision of ecologically safe environment with an optimal level of satisfaction of social needs. Conclusions. Creation of unified electronic digital space for the interaction of public administration bodies at the level of the subjects of the Russian Federation and macro-regions, including federal districts, is an important task.
