Subject. This article discusses the issues of Russia's transition to an innovative path of development, financial support for manufacturing industries, problems of tax regulation and modernization of production.
Objectives. The article aims to identify and measure the statistical relationship between the indicators of reducing the tax burden on economic entities implementing innovative projects and the country's gross domestic product dynamics.
Methods. For the study, we used a production functions framework and differential analysis.
Results. Based on the calculation of the amount of growth in the gross domestic product of the Russian Federation with a reduction in the tax burden by a fixed amount and the assessment of the probability of intensification of innovative activity of economic entities, the article finds that the increase in the gross domestic product in the Russian Federation occurs due to the use of non-mechanized labor and that the productivity benefits are higher than those ones of capital.
Conclusions. The article concludes that the efficiency of the economy of the Russian Federation is relatively low.

Keywords: gross domestic product, production function, tax burden, investments, innovation activity
