Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of a complex semi-structured system.
Objectives. The article aims to identify the relationship between order and entropy as factors in the development of the economic system.
Methods. For the study, we used the systems approach, mathematical modeling, and a graphical analysis.
Results. The article finds that in theoretical terms, the management of an economic system is a process of purposeful influence on the controlled values. The article presents an example of calculating the level of entropy in a simplified form in a conditional economic system.
Conclusions. The developed formalization makes it possible to fully assess the level of entropy of an economic system. Entropy is a significant indicator that determines the level of order of the system.

Keywords: economic system, statistical analysis, entropy approach, orderliness, development
