Subject. This article discusses the mechanisms for the implementation of national projects and regional programmes. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the implementation of the National Project Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiative in the Republic of Kalmykia. Methods. For the study, we used a systems analysis. Results. The article finds that in the Republic of Kalmykia, in the course of the implementation of various programmes to support small and medium-sized businesses, all targets have been achieved. Conclusions. It is necessary to develop a methodology for determining the targets of national projects, taking into account regional risks and threats to economic security. It is also necessary to widely inform the population about the effectiveness of the regional project implementation.
