Subject. The article considers prospects for the development of nuclear energy, global problems of energy supply.
Objectives. The aim is to identify the socio-economic efficiency of creation and operation of low-power nuclear power plants.
Methods. The study employs methods of systems, comparative, structural, and logical analysis.
Results. We analyzed prospects for the operation of low-power nuclear power plants, revealed their advantages and disadvantages, proposed recommendations to increase the level of usefulness and reduce the cost of low-power nuclear power plants.
Conclusions. Small-scale nuclear power plants have the potential to provide a more sustainable and secure energy future for the world.
