Subject. The article addresses corporate governance, compliance with social and environmental standards. Objectives. The focus is on assessing the impact of sustainable development policy on economic performance. Methods. We apply methods of systems, comparative, structural, and logical analyses. Results. The paper established that compliance with the principles of sustainable development increases the company value, its competitiveness and investment appeal. Conclusions. In today's economic environment, the transition from "capitalism of business owners" to "stakeholder capitalism" is relevant for companies.
