Subject. This article studies the principles of functioning of the sharing economy.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the phenomenon of the sharing economy, determine the advantages and disadvantages of this model, and assess the level of development of the sharing economy.
Methods. For the study, we used general scientific methods of research.
Results. The article says that the concept of the sharing economy is a logical stage in the development of the concept of sustainable development. It describes the main stages of development of the sharing economy model, their characteristic features, as well as the conditions for the formation and successful functioning of this economic model, its principles and shortcomings.
Conclusions. Currently, there is a transformation of traditional approaches to the process of reproduction. The purpose of the sharing economy is to create conditions for increasing the availability and expanding the scope of application of goods and services with the obligatory reduction of the total costs of society arising in the process of production and consumption.
