Subject. The article discusses the economic security of the industrial complex, which directly depends on threats arising from the instability. Objectives. We herein analyze and evaluate economic security threats to the development of the regional industrial complex. We also analyze key economic indicators and qualities of an industrial complex and comprehensively evaluate the economic security of the regional industrial complex, referring to resources, production, S&T and financial aspects, which ensure smooth industrial operations. Methods. The study is based on general methods of the systems, functional structure and comprehensive approach to analyzing the economic security of the region’s industrial complex. Results. We produce a set of indicators to assess risks of, and threats to regional industrial complexes. As for some indicators, current risks exceed tolerable values with respect to Russia and some industrial regions. Conclusions and Relevance. As for some indicators in the national economy, current risks exceed tolerable values across Russia and in some industrial regions. If the foreign policy situation deteriorates, the industrial complex may become weaker in certain regions. In some cases, the production process may even stall.
