Importance The article focuses on economic security issues from technological perspectives and methodological framework for monitoring it, considering the transition to the innovative course of development.
Objectives The research is an attempt to find ways to develop the system for governance, forecasting and strategic planning of the national technological security as the basis for competitive economy.
Methods The research relies upon the principle of scientific research consistency, nexus of theory and practice. The scientific and theoretical underpinning hereof comprises publications and proceedings of the Russian and foreign scholars.
Results We formed the methodology for setting a matrix of technological security indicators and its monitoring algorithm.
Conclusions and Relevance Methodological approaches to technological security evaluation should be refined as the economy transforms. Economic security criteria adopted in 1996 were found to be inapplicable to the current circumstances due to their outdated substance and crucial changes in the Russian economy.
