Importance To deliver appropriate customs and logistic services to actors of foreign trade, it is necessary to mitigate risks arising from transportation of goods across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union and ensure Russia’s economic security.
Objectives We examine the way to improve the system of customs and logistic service for foreign trade actors and support customs bodies in implementing their functions in accordance with new tasks and conditions.
Methods The research relies upon methods of systems and statistical analysis, synthesis, comparison and analogy.
Results We analyze the substance of the customs and logistic service system, its main components and approaches and identify the nexus among customs logistics, custom service and risks arising from transportation of goods over the customs border. We trace how interests of the State and foreign trade actors intertwine, and spotlight key issues of improving the customs service and logistics in pursuit of economic security.
Conclusions and Relevance Considering time limits of customs operations and growing turnover of goods, the national economic security seems indispensable without an effective system of customs and logistic service to foreign trade actors on the basis of partnership between the State and business. The findings may prove useful to customs authorities to provide the rationale for improving their customs and logistic services to foreign trade actors and address economic security issues.
