Importance At the modern stage of development, it is crucial to ensure the economic security and sustainable development of territories. The article addresses the analysis and diagnostics of the region and their role in the regional management system. Objectives The aim of the study is to consider methodological aspects of analysis and diagnostics of economic security of the region under current conditions. Methods Using traditional methods of economic analysis and the expert evaluation technique, we defined criteria and indicators of the diagnostics of region's economic security. Furthermore, we analyzed the indicators' behavior and presented analytical data by applying the graphical method. Results We considered the concept of economic security of the region, specified internal and external risk factors, offered an original version of analysis and diagnostics of region's economic security. The paper presents the diagnostics of indicators of economic security of the Republic of Buryatia and recommendations for its enhancement. Conclusions and Relevance The findings may be of certain value for regional authorities involved in socio-economic policy formation and implementation. In particular, the comparative retrospective analysis of the region's economic security indicators can be used as a database for management decisions on forecasting and planning the socio-economic development of the territory, working out measures aimed at mitigating future risks and enhancing the competitiveness of the regional economy.
