Importance Online public resource is developed, being intended for a broad audience of users and providing new and promising professions in the labor market. For this there should be a conceptual framework and, first of all, fundamental understanding of profession.
Objectives The research scrutinizes the concept of profession, determines approaches to its scope and contents, illustrates how various users can use it.
Methods This article reviews the term and concept of profession, which circulate in labor and professional training, using methods of cognitive logic, systems analysis, and the theory of classes, thus allowing for another solution, as compared with the existing approaches.
Results We reviewed the term and concept of profession. The findings methodologically and substantially unfold and specify the understanding of the substance, its reflection in the existing terminology in forming and maintaining various components of the system encompassing labor and professional training, and pursuing the development of the labor market and its monitoring system.
Conclusions and Relevance Profession constitutes reality that relies upon complicated processes that are mutually related in labor and education. The findings will contribute to higher clarity and reasonableness when solving such an important issue as improvement of professional qualification management, which is currently one of the priorities in social, labor, professional and education aspects of the national policy.
