Importance The article explores the experience of foreign armies, to a greater or lesser extent using the principle of outsourcing in food security organization of troops. Objectives The paper aims to determine whether it is expedient and practical to borrow and introduce such practices, like outsourcing, in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Methods The article uses the methods of scientific analysis and systems approach to the study of food supply for foreign armies. Conclusions We conclude that the food systems of the armies considered are not of the same pattern, they get created taking into account the interests of States, specificity, and the traditions.
