Subject The article examines the development trends and prospects for transformation of the BRICS into a military and economic coalition.
Objectives The study aims to review the current foreign policy of the European Union and the United States in respect of the BRICS countries, and Russia in particular, and analyze methods of BRICS countries transformation into a military alliance like NATO.
Methods I use the basic principles of systems analysis and formal logic, investigate the expediency and feasibility of establishing the military cooperation with the aforementioned countries.
Results The paper describes the possibility of creating a military and economic coalition of the BRICS countries through setting up and using private military and consulting companies to ensure the increasing presence of BRICS member countries in a number of regions.
Conclusions To protect the national security of the Russian Federation, it is important to search for options for creating a coalition that would be able to defend national interests based on economic and military power. The BRICS can be transformed from a trade association into a military and economic coalition proceeding from the danger of isolation of a number of member countries of this organization, namely Brazil, Russia, China and India.
