Importance The article discusses the issues of application of production sourcing models in the management of restructuring major Russian machine-building enterprises or constructing industrial clusters.
Objectives The paper aims to develop a methodology for assessing the appropriateness of production sourcing models at industrial enterprises.
Methods To develop the methodology, we used a matrix approach.
Results We have developed and now present the methodology for assessing the appropriateness of production sourcing models at industrial enterprises. As well we show the essence of the productive co-sourcing and its role in the management of industrial enterprise.
Conclusions and Relevance One of the key criteria for successful sourcing strategies when restructuring major machine-building enterprises or constructing industrial clusters, is the proper determination of the degree of usefulness of each model of sourcing. The proposed methods of evaluation of the feasibility of production outsourcing, in-sourcing and co-sourcing is designed to meet the produce-and/or-purchase challenge. Despite the fact that the technique does not cover the full diversity of opportunities to apply the co-sourcing, it allows defining some important situations where it is economically and strategically advisable to attract resources and competence of the co-sourcing company.

Keywords: strategic management, matrix, industrial co-sourcing, industrial outsourcing, industrial in-sourcing
