Importance The research presents a review of the collective monograph by V.N. Konyshev, A.A. Sergunin and V.I. Shatskaya on the U.S. ballistic missile defense systems.
Objectives I carry out a critical analysis of materials on the U.S. ballistic missile defense systems at the national, regional and global levels.
Methods The review involves the method of analytical deconstruction so to figure out the idea and message of the research in question, its structural specifics, strengths and weaknesses.
Results The authors provided convincing arguments that the U.S. ballistic missile defense system would change the balance of global political powers. The book overviews milestones the U.S. ballistic missile defense policy underwent, its composition, functions, and the role in the military strategy. Illustrating Europe, Middle East, Asia-Pacific Regions and the Arctic, the book investigates the practices of deploying regional ballistic missile defense systems.
Conclusions and Relevance The book makes a serious contribution to research into the U.S. ballistic missile defense systems and its implications for national, regional and global systems of security. The book raises issues that encompass practical, scientific and educational areas. The review emphasizes that the monograph is useful for practitioners, and those who study aspects of national and international security, military strategies of the leading States.
